Britain at War Museum, London

Before this trip war always seemed to be a distant and far off thing. I knew the names of the wars and even sometimes the dates. These names and dates though were not feelings, and did not make me feel any different about war. After having seen WWI and WW2 battlefields and cemeteries my view has changed. Now WWI and WW2 feels and is very real to me and it will be real for the rest of my life.

Andrew, age 12

I can't tell you how much stuff I have learned visiting the beaches and old battlefields and graveyards and all. I will never forget what you did to help me learn what actually happened during World War One and Two. You can never really learn that much in school. Thanks for telling me the real story that FREEDOM ISN'T FREE!

David, age 12

When we reached Normandy a strong wave of emotion hit me at the beaches. I could picture the battle going on as if it was in real time. I got to see first hand the deaths and huge sacrifices made. It is not all about the sacrifices to me though. When I look back at what happened in our past as a nation I think about the time and energy that was put into becoming a great nation…For a hundred and fifty years, past generations have turned away from dreams that they had and served our country in any way they could no matter how small.

Michael, age 15

Thank you a million times. Most people my age and moreover people in America do not know why they get all the freedoms that they get today. Thanks to this trip I learned what was fought for and what was sacrificed. And ultimately what was won: our freedom.

I liked the Legacy of Freedom experience a lot. I learned that tons of people died in the war. How they sacrificed lots for everyone in our country. It makes me feel sad.

B.J., age 7

Your knowledge and grasp of history find its way out of you with a passion that is contagious even to those of us that slept through our history classes. Lest We Forget!

Dave, 40+

Those men are the greatest generation of Americans ever to have lived, for they understood the true value of the human spirit and the cost to ensure that it continues to thrive without threat of destruction.

Before our tour through Europe this summer, I did not have any concept as to the magnitude of World War I or World War II. And how could I really. My experience of the wars coming into the summer was that of grade school textbooks and college professors. What is impressed on me most in regards to these wars is not the massive effort of many countries that stood in the face of oppression, but the individual stories of men and women of our great nation and others that stood in the gap for me, for us. Thanks for an incredible experience. What I have seen will always impact my life.

Jon, age 24

Thanks for all you taught us and shared. I pretty much knew nothing about WWI and your passion really got me interested and ever more thankful for our freedom.

I now know how big wars are. Before if someone talked about war I would think, "Yeah, who really cares about it," but now I know how brave these men were to go in and fight. And some of these men knew that they might possibly die in the war, but they went anyway. You taught me something I will never forget!

Erin, age 10

It was so much more than a trip. I've tried to describe it to others and they think it sounds more like a post-graduate level practicum on battlefield strategy and history. But then, thanks to your planning it was so much more than that, too. It's not about war or peace - of course we would all choose peace. It's about the future. It just took looking at the faces of the third generation of our tour to recognize that our freedom to view and learn history was gained only at a tremendous cost of lives a few generations ago.

I send my special appreciation for your passion, expertise and skill in leading our family to understand that freedom isn't free. You were a primary reason why we truly had a life changing experience, not a trip.

Frank, 70+

I have learned more than I could have ever in the average history school class. I would like to deeply thank you for giving me the trip of a lifetime. This trip showed me not only how we gained much of our freedom, but also what was given up to earn it.

I always understood that WWI preceded WWII in terms of creating the conditions for another world war, but now understand the environment of the conflict in a whole new way. Having had almost no training into the start and conflict of WWI, I hope to do more study as I sense it has been the preface to more than just another battle of the 20th Century.

Steve, 40+

What an awesome experience Europe was. History came to life and the cost of our freedom was never more evident as we daily saw what our fellow countrymen did before us.
