Frank Jordan, at the memorial to Major Cedric Charles Dickens, grandson of the famous Victorian author Charles Dickens, killed in action in the Somme sector 1916, draws inspiration from his family's military heritage. His grandfather, Captain Alexander Macgregor, served with the Royal Field Artillery on the Western Front from 1915 to the armistice. His father, Bernard Jordan, was a sapper with the 3rd Para Squadron, Royal Engineers, British 6th Airborne Division, and jumped into Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944.

Frank's 37 Yard Kick Defeats
Notre Dame, 1978
Since his graduation from the University of Southern California, where he excelled as the place-kicker for the 1978 National Championship Trojan football team, Frank has been in the insurance business with New York Life in San Francisco. While visiting the Western Front battlefields in the early 1980's he found himself deeply moved by the tremendous human sacrifice made in 1914-1918 and fascinated by the magnitude of the imprint left on the countryside. For nearly 25 years, Frank has not only studied the Western Front battles in great detail, but has gained a profound insight into the lives of countless soldiers through their journals, letters, and poetry.

Frank is a member of the Great War Society and Western Front Association, and has been leading group tours of the Western Front since 1991. In 1993 Frank published, and distributed worldwide, an impressive engagement calendar commemorating the 75th anniversary of the armistice. For his achievement, the Veterans of World War I Association presented Frank with a 75th anniversary commemorative victory medal. Recently, he penned a screenplay about poet Alan Seeger and the other American volunteers who fought with the French Foreign Legion in World War I. Frank takes great pleasure in sharing his expertise and knowledge of the towns, personalities, and battlefields of the Western Front.
